Guitar Program For Children

Purpose: To teach children the skill of playing the guitar, and guiding them to use their guitar skills in ministry.

Activities: Children are taught in weekly classes.  Each spring a guitar concert is performed for all parishioners.  The concert is utilized as a parish community event and fundraiser for charity.  Once children have acquired the appropriate skills, they may participate in the Liturgical GLuitar Class and provide guitar music within the liturgy.

Where: St. Jude’s

When: Children’s classes are held weekly for 15 weeks in the Fall Semester, 15 weeks in the spring, and 3 to 4 private lessons in the summer.  Liturgical Guitar is an extra weekly 30-45 minute class.

Time commitment: Weekly one-hour classes for children.  Personal practice time also required at a minimum of 4 times a week for 30 minutes.  Liturgical Guitar meets an additional 30-45 minutes per week. Personal practice time required as needed.

Note:  Tuition is required for the weekly one-hour classes and materials.  No tuition required for Liturgical Guitar.
