The St. Jude Bereavement Ministry is an outreach ministry to support members of the parish who are mourning the death of a loved one. The ministry helps plan ceremonies and offers support in family homes and at funeral Masses. Jesus emphasized comforting those who mourn, as seen in the Beatitudes: “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” Volunteering in the Bereavement Ministry can be a deeply rewarding experience, but it also requires sensitivity and empathy. The commitment time varies. Several hours involved with bereaved families, as a rule. They attend the funeral to ensure that all runs smoothly.
